Humans vs Zombies – Rhodes invasion
By Jason Jonathan Joseph
Socks abandoned, a view similar to National Geographic’s (LIVE) as people suddenly change their predestined routes and sprint in the opposite direction while being chased... what has happened to the Students of Rhodes University?
Humans versus Zoombies... or Monster Tag if you choose.
Gamesoc organised this game that has friends turned to enemies and strangers into conspiratory allies.
It started with one Zombie, she tagged a few Humans, who then became Zombies who then went forth into Rhodes University Campus to tag more Humans and turn them into Zombies too...
Humans aren't totally defenceless though, they can defend themselves from the Zombies by ‘Stunning’ them with balls of socks, which leaves Zombies stunned and unable to tag humans for 15minutes... no specification on whether socks are clean or not... so Zombies beware...
But how can you tell who's playin???
Well, Zombies have their bandanas around their heads, and when they are stunned the bandanas move to around their necks. Humans have Bandanas around their arms, and once they have been turned they have 1 hour infection period where the bandana has to move from their arm to their heads... so someone can enter their lecture a Human still, and leave a Zombie...
There are safe spaces, though, so the Humans don't have to keep running and running. The Kaif, and the interior of any Building is a safe space, and also ten paces outside of any entrances.
Rhodes University is the first University in SOUTH AFRICA to play this game on a campus wide scale, with something like 800 students participating...
You can't cheat though, because everything is moderated online. You register to play the game - you could also opt to be the original Zombie, and the original Zombie gets chosen from the pool of students you choose to potentially be the original - you get a registration card, and when you have been tagged you hand your registration-card over to the Zombie who turned you. Zombies register who has been tagged and turned by entering their registration number online. The Original Zombie had the opportunity to tag Humans while stunting as a Human with her bandana around her arm for the first 7 hours of the game that started on Monday at 7am.
Zombies die if they do not eat, or turn Humans, within 2 days of their last feeding or being turned. Fortunately Zombies can also feed other Zombies online... phew... The last Human to survive wins, or the last Humans to make it to Friday... who will it be???
